Good ol' Christmas Village

We took the trip to O-Town on Friday to go to christmas village with the Tripletts, and it was fun as always. We always go to Maple Garden first and then head down to Christmas village. We waited in line for santa for like 25 minutes and froze our butt cheeks off. As you can tell from the picture someone was really excited to see santa and it was not Tenley.

Isn't that the prettiest smile that you have ever seen-oh you will see her in magazines later in life.

For some reason in my head I imagined something else while doing my tag and after reading Abby's post of her saying that she was in high school I realised that I was still in High school too. So I apologize to all of you that I lied so here:

Sushi baby

So if you guys have not figured it out yet I am a little obsessed sushi, the problem with this is that I am now crippling my daughter with the same obsession. This is a picture of Tenley muching on some sushi the other night-yes she is using chopsticks, I laugh every time I look at that picture(sorry it is from my phone so it is not the best quality).

It is an exspensive habit to have Tenley you should stop it now.

What it looks like when mom is sick.

I was sick all weekend and pretty much stayed in bed the whole time but, on saturday I went down stairs to put my cup in sink and found this. Tenley in only a diaper(she is at the point where she undresses herself) and boots eating a sucker-daddy's are awesome, they let kids just go with the flow.In the immortal words of Pioneer Woman I am just keepin' it real.

Free Leaves-REALLY?

So I am a big fan of KSL and regularly check the free section lookin' to find some awesome gem-anywho. As I was on KSL I came across not one but two ads offering free leaves--really, anyone who has a huge tree like me where the leaves continue to spew from the tree for 3 months-knows that there is absolutely nothing good about a garbage bag full of leaves, the leaves are a menace to society.

OuR GuiTaR HeRo

(Notice the shoes on the wrong feet)
Tenley has decided at the age of 21 months that she can play guitar hero with the best of them. When we attempt to take the guitar away she throws a fit-so I figure I teach her how to play, put it on you tube and just wait for it to blow up, hit the talk show circuit, get a bunch of cash a prizes, and everyone is happy-I do wonder if that would be considered pimping out my kid, but the bills gotta be paid somehow.

An open letter to my kids

Dear Tenley and Pacey,
I wanted to take a second to write you a letter about my feelings. It is such an amazing period in your history and mine I have to talk about it. You are an American and that means that you are free to do and be whatever you want! Three days ago I am very proud to say that America has even come as far as to have a black president-it is one of the huge barriers that has finally been broken and I am proud to be an American. Now when you learn about Martin Luther King in school and you hear him say those famous words "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character" and now you will see that it is true, and you can do anything that you want to do and we can all be tolerant of everyone. I love you both and want you to know that you can be whatever makes you happy in this life.
I love you
Love your mom

Good old shampoo sets-My fav!

I got Tenley out of the bath last night and decided that it would be fun to try some curlers to see what would happen-not so cute. We all had fun though even Pacey who was a good sport and put some in his hair to help me make Tenley keep them in her hair.

Halloween Eve

Last night Jade and Nick had a Halloween party and we had a ton of fun. We had some dinner and the kids decorated cookies, then the adults played some pictionary and Nick drew us some ham-ters. Good times.

Me through a kids eyes

We went to parent teacher conferences the other night and Paceys teacher gave us his journal so far this year and this is one of my favorite entries. CLASSIC!!

What is wrong with me?

So my family has a lot of strange things that we grew up doing and one of these things is making up a song for everything. I am only telling everyone this so I can possibly get it off my head-so please do not think that I am a big loser and not want to check out my blog anymore.Anyway, while doing the laundry this morning the machine was making a nice beat for me and this is the song that my crazy brain came up with:
"Delicate, delicate slow slow slow
delicate delicate who's the ho."

I understand if this is the post that makes you take me off your list-no hard feelings!

PAAARTAY AIGHT'

So on Saturday it was my birthday and it was way cool. I woke up to Einstiens in bed then did some shopping and then went to dinner. For dinner we went to Tucanos in gateway and we ended up having a bunch of people come and it was totally fun. We had planned on going to a haunted forest but the snow put a slight damper on that so we went to the arcade at Gateway and spent the rest of the night laughing at JBJ and Colby making fools of themselfs-it was awesome, thanks again to everyone who came you made my birthday!

10.09.2008

Taking a cue from Nie

I thought that I might take a cue from the ever awesome Nie, and talk about JBJ. I sure do like that guy! The other night while I was gone at mutual he put away all of the laundry-that is including hanging up all of my my clothes(not in order, but can you complain?). I don't know about you guys out there but I always wonder how I ended up with him, the one that is so great for me. He loves me no matter what even if I sometimes I am not really loving myself. I am also really thankful that his eyes have gone bad- glasses are YUM YUM!

10.06.2008

Oh Fall!

I absolutely adore the fall in Utah, there is no other time of year that has so many great parts to it from; the smell of rain, blankets on the couch, take out and movies on a cold night, homeade apple cider, halloween(no need to elaborate), and fall veggies-yum. I fear that my daughter does not share the same love of fall that I have-saturday it was pouring rain and she wanted to go out on the tramp and play-I have no idea how to explain to a 20 month old that it is raining and it is cold, I tried and she proceeded to throw herself to the ground and scream "Side". I think that the worst part is that she will not be able to go out to the garden and pick herself a snack. Tenley loves the grape and cherry tomatoes she will go out to the garden and just pick herself a little snack and I love it-it's so adorable!

10.02.2008

Pitty!

Tenley is currently obsessed with coloring of any kind, so we have had to put all coloring items high up. Pacey was doing some school work right before bed and did not get the markers put away-unbeknownst to me! She was downstairs playing and got real quiet so I went down to find her. She had shut her self into Pacey's room and colored all over her hands and feet. When I got the markers from her I said "Tenley this is no no" to that she looked up at me showed me her hands and said "Pitty"(Pretty)-how do you stay mad at that?

9.28.2008

Decoratin' Cookies

For just about every holiday of the year we end up decoratin' cookies for a fun weekend activity-and even though it is not even October we did Halloween ones. Pacey takes this very seriously and takes about 15 minutes on each cookie-so I end up frosting most of them so we are not doing it all might long! This was Tenley's first time doing and she thought that she was supposed to frost her mouth-weird huh.

9.25.2008

Conversations with Tenley

I have put a couple of my conversations with Pacey on here so I thought that I would do one of me and Tenley's:
Tenley-"Mommy wa dat?"
Me-"a book"
Tenley-"book"
Me-"Mommy wa dat?"
Me-"its a book"
Tenley-"Mommy, mommy, mommy, book wa dat?"
Me-"Tenley it is a book you just said it"
Tenley-"book"
Me-"Yes book, good girl"
Tenley-"Mommy wa dat"

Then you could continue you this on for like 853 times and you would get my day with Tenley minus naps and when Pacey gets home from school. AWESOME!!

30 Years

Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the DATC-they had a big party and we all went. My dad has been running that school as the President for over 14 years-and doing it well. I am very proud that he is my dad,he has so much respect with everyone that he knows. So congrats dad for being an awesome influence for all of the people that you know-we all love you.(Mom you will have to open this for dad if you want-we all know he doesn't know how to use a computer)

9.24.2008

Mini golfin'

So my dad is on the city council in Layton and with that comes perks for the rest of us-my dad get's invited to all the activites that go on around the city. So my mom and dad called to let us know that they were going to take everyone mini golfing so we all went and had a great time-espcially Tenley after the worker gave her a ball and her own club-thanks again mom and dad.

Nie Nie

So I have spent the whole morning reading about Nie. I have gone to her blog a couple of times and thought the she was an amazing person and an amazing mom-I heard all about the accident a while back and felt so bad for her. Today I decided I would read her sisters blog and I have been crying non stop for the last hour and a half. Firstly, I am so amazed at her family, her sisters are so strong and so great, I am sure that Nie and her husband and comforted in the fact that they have such a great family that they know that their kids are safe. Second, it makes you feel that there is still so much good in the world people that do not even know her have come to her help and have raised over 100,000 dollars and prayed for her in probably too many religions to count. It just makes you sit back and think that your issues are never as bad as you think-it also makes you think that even if you do have your problems there will always be someone there to help you up, I have found huge comfort thinking if anything ever happened to me that I have an amazing family that I know would step in and do all that they had to do in my time of need. I just hope that one day I can be as strong in all of my convictions as they are be and try te be a better person each day.

My kid is delusional

I can admit it some times I am a bit of an over-achiever, but now I have made my child a little on the delusional side. The other night we were talking about what he wanted to be for Halloween and he says to me
"I want to be shockwave from the Transformers"
I said "Well I don't think that I can make that costume"
He says "I have a little action figure of him that you can use for reference"
I guess that I should feel flattered that he thinks that I can do anything but I think that I am setting a presidence that his future wife is not going to want to follow

More Canning

So my garden overfloweth and I felt guilt that some of my vegetables might go bad so I set my mind to canning. This time I did Zucchini salsa-that is amazing, pickled peppers, green pepper jelly, and then canned all the tomatoes that I could find in my garden-I would reccomend having two people for this job. It is so long and hard but it is so worth it and I love to get all the use out my garden that I can!(I love how the pics look like I am taking this to my sick granny)

Paceys big Carnival

So on Saturday it was Paceys big party-this year we decided to do a Carnival and it turned out really cool. We set up a couple of games including: A duck pond, a dart throw, and the now infamous pie throw. The pie throw was hilarious the kids were having the greatest time throwing the pies and then they decided that it would be fun to get the pie thrown at them-it was so cute all the kids were laughing and they had a really great time-I am really happy that it is over though.

My big huge 7 year old

Today is my Paceys 7th birthday and I can not believe it! He is the best little kid that I know and I want to tell him on his birth day that I love him and I am so proud of what a good kid he is. I figured that I could do the 6 facts about him that everyone does on their blog:
1. He is the best little brother that I know he is always aware of what Tenley needs and wants and is always willing to help her with it.
2. He is very aware of people and their feelings-he always knows when I am having a bad day and is extra good for me.
3. He remembers everything-we will be talking about something and he will tell us that we have one of the facts wrong and he will be right, he also remembers every store that he got a toy from.
4. He has the craziest fingers they bend in like eight different places they look really crazy.
5. He is so smart-He already knows all the words that he is supposed to be studying for the whole year at school.
6. He is a great artist he loves to paint and draw-that is the main reason that I put him into the art school because he loves it so much.

I love you Pacey and I am proud every day that you are mine-HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Shoes Shoes Shoes

I could buy Tenley every toy on the toy aisle she might play with them for a minute, but her true love is shoes. If I leave her closet open I can expect to find every pair of her shoes out and her trying them on for hours. I really have no idea where she gets a shoe obsession(Megan and Brittany I need no comments from you on this). It is really funny though at 18 months she already knows that I like things clean so each time I go in her room and find the pile of shoes she thinks that she is going to get in trouble so she does her cheese ball smile so that I won't get mad at her-Man I love that little girl!!!!

9.02.2008

I have a gripe

So I have a small gripe that I need to get off my chest I was at the store the other day and a woman who had a little girl about the same age as Tenley walked by and this little girl had a full head of hair that looked like she had slept on it for about a week and a half. Don't get me wrong I know that kids have a mind of their own and probably that little girl won't let her mom touch her hair with a ten foot pole-but this where my gripe comes in. My little girl that I want so badly to do her hair insists on not growing it!!! At this point I don't think she is going to have hair until her seventh birthday. Is it wrong to put rogaine on kids hair-if so what about the Ronco hair in a can spray---umm that sounds pretty.

JBJ's work Party

Saturday was JBJ's summer work party for the families. They have games for the kids, rides, treats, and face painting. My little dare devil Tenley is not afraid of any ride at Lagoon but when I put her on the swings she decided that she was scared and screamed and cried the whole ride-it was awesome. Pacey had a great time though he loves anything that he can win a prize at, he won Tenley a bunch of stuff and some stuff for himself(he is an awesome brother he always thinks of her first). JBJ was the true winner though they had a little game where the first kid that caught him got a prize-my husband not ever willing to back down from competition proceed to run full speed toward a garbage can with the idea to jump over it-instead he ran into it because a little girl was there that he had not noticed-so as he falls to the ground he is jumped on by like 5 kids and Tenley is screaming in fear that these kids have killed her favorite person.

First day of 1st grade

Today was Paceys first day of first grade at Syracuse Arts Academy. After the length of this summer I thought for sure that I would be kicking him out of the car, but as usual I cried a little. I just can't believe that he is almost 7 I feel like an old woman.
